Stay Powered When the Grid Goes Down
PGnE started with one Los Gatos neighbor lending out his own generators during a power outage. Backed by a Town of Los Gatos grant, it's now a community program connecting South Bay residents with FREE loaner generators, hands-on workshops, and volunteer support — before, during, and after outages.
About the PGnE Program
PGnE (Portable Generator in Emergency) began when a Los Gatos CERT volunteer started lending out personal generators, for FREE, to neighbors during PG&E outages. After coverage from CBS News Bay Area and the San Jose Mercury News, it grew into an official nonprofit program, backed by a Community Grant from the Town of Los Gatos — maintaining a shared inventory of FREE loaner generators for residents during power outages, prioritizing those with medical needs.
